Now in nuits-saint-georges

We picked up a rental Friday morning and drove down, down, down through beautiful scenery and some amazing roading - serious engineering feats! Unfortunately it was raining so the views were not so good and we didn't stop.

Over 3-4 hours it went from mountain to steep hills to rolling hills, with intensification of the farming following.
We stopped for lunch in a village but couldn't find anything - it looked really poor and semi-deserted. Then had a fairly random lunch in the next village - then (of course) saw much better places a bit later. We hoped off and on the 'payway', the first section cost us 8E and the second about 3E. Eventually we made our way to Nuits-Saint-Georges, our home village for the next few days. It is in the middle of the burgandy district and there are vinyards all around and 'caves' where they store the wine in every second building.
Saturday we went to Dijon and wandered around - it is a rather nice town, but nothing that makes it particularly standout from any other European town I am rubbing an owl, on the side of the cathederal, which supposedly gives one good luck.

Lunch was at a local cafe, afternoon tea was a pinguinne cake - soooo cute and it tasted quite nice too.

The we did a bit of wine tasting on the way back to Nuits-S-G

Today we went south to to Beaune, we wandered around the town, did more eating and more wine tasting. This cellar is a wine merchants - there are about 3 million bottles of wine in it!
